Neo Young is a Canadian tribute project dedicated to celebrating the music and legacy of legendary singer-songwriter Neil Young, led by performer Gary Pooler, who recreates Young’s distinctive vocal tone, guitar style, and stage presence through a mix of solo acoustic performances and full-band shows. Active since the early 1980s, the act has appeared at theatres, festivals, and community venues across Canada, presenting concerts that trace the evolution of Neil Young’s career through different musical eras. A typical Neo Young performance features a five-piece band interpreting classic songs such as “Cinnamon Girl,” “Southern Man,” “Harvest Moon,” and “Rockin’ in the Free World,” while also incorporating storytelling and visual elements that highlight Young’s history and cultural impact. One of the group’s signature productions, often billed as “Journey Through the Past,” presents a narrative-style concert exploring the milestones of Neil Young’s career from the 1960s onward. In recent years the show has also experimented with interactive formats that encourage audience sing-alongs and participation, making Neo Young a popular tribute act on the Canadian theatre and live-music circuit.
