Thomas Wiebe is a Canadian cellist based in Ontario who serves as Associate Professor of Violoncello at Western University’s Don Wright Faculty of Music in London, where he teaches cello performance and chamber music while maintaining an active professional career as a performer. He appears regularly as a soloist and chamber musician and has performed as a guest artist with ensembles including Toronto’s ARC Ensemble, associated with the Royal Conservatory of Music, as well as orchestral collaborations such as appearances with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. Wiebe is also involved in ensemble-based contemporary classical projects, including work with the Art of Time Ensemble, where he contributes to programs that blend traditional chamber repertoire with modern programming approaches. His performance activity extends to festival and curated chamber series appearances, including participation in QuartetFest 2026 at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Maureen Forrester Hall, where he performed alongside Sharon Wei and other string colleagues in a multi-ensemble chamber program. Alongside performance, his academic role focuses on training advanced string students in technique, interpretation, and ensemble playing, reflecting a dual career that integrates conservatory-level teaching with ongoing concert work. His professional profile is grounded in cello performance, orchestral collaboration, and chamber music leadership, with a consistent presence in both Canadian academic institutions and national performance circuits.
