Julian Taylor and his band will be taking to the stage of the Avening Hall.
Taylor brings a signature blend of soulful rhythm and blues, rock, and gentle folk that has established them as one of Canada’s most beloved songwriters. A Toronto-based artist of West Indian and Mohawk descent, Julian Taylor has built a storied career spanning over two decades. Known for a warm, conversational vocal style and a gift for poignant storytelling, Taylor’s work—particularly the breakthrough albums The Ridge and Beyond the Reservoir—has garnered multiple Juno Award nominations and Polaris Music Prize shortlists.
For this special festival appearance, Taylor is joined by a full band to deliver an expansive sound that ranges from foot-stomping grooves to quiet, heart-wrenching ballads. The Julian Taylor Band is celebrated not just for musical tight-knittedness, but for an onstage charisma that makes every performance feel like a gathering of old friends.
Presented by the Purple Hills Arts & Heritage Society, this concert offers a perfect sonic counterpart to the festival’s weekend of visual and performance art. Against the backdrop of Avening Hall’s storied rafters, audiences can expect a night of music that explores themes of belonging, heritage, and the shared human experience.
Cutoff is Saturday, October 3, 2026 5:59 pm EDT unless it sells out earlier.
